We've seen a lot of great fundraisers here at WHQ but this is but this is one of the most creative events to ever pass our desks! Marcus Relliford known as Reverend Wind by his students, leads five karate schools in Memphis, Tennessee and also serves as associate pastor of Spiritual Union Baptist Church in Memphis. After hearing about "Malaria No More" and learning that malaria is both preventable and treatable he organized the first annual Karate Kick-A-Thon to "Kick Malaria Out of Africa." The event was a huge success and raised $1,172 dollars for long lasting insecticide treated bed nets! This money will provide bed nets that will protect well over 300 people from malaria while they sleep, a true achievement. Reverend Wind, we here at WHQ salute your creativity, enthusiasm, and incredible karate skills! Below are some great pictures from the event.
